Where do NOT eat out in Lisboa

There are TWO restaurants in Lisbon where no human being should enter to eat. One of them is in the High District (Bairro Alto) "Mercearia de comida" and the other in Alfama District (Restaurante Sao Miguel). Will you ask me for which reason I do not advise them absolutely? Here are the reasons.

The restaurant Mercearia de Comida has a terrible service. The owner is of an inaccuracy and insolence unbelievable with the clients. The food, that one, is deplorable. Expensive for the pretentious level of the restaurant, the biggest disillusionment comes when the plates are presented to us. Extremely kitch (there are no innovatory plates), without any refinement in the production, except in the presentation. But the worst comes then. The service is delayed and ignorant, like they were doing a favor in serving the clients.

Another restaurant is Sao Miguel de Alfama. The delay is unbelievable (I was more than an hour at the door), thanks to the insistence of a caretaker full of cunning, who made me believe that the cod "à casa" was of first category. In spite of the fado (portuguese song) was distracting me (I heard already very better in the Clube do Fado), it would have driven to despair up to being attended by a simple employee, who almost threw the menu to the table. A few minutes after, the owner of the restaurant appears, trying to explain without success the way of cooking the plates (it´s always polite, in a restaurant of 1st pretense category, the chef or the person in charge for the room shall come to the table, explaining to the clients how each plate is made). The description that the lady did was leaving me some water in the mouth: cod fried in oil, with onion, and small potatoes provençale and salad to accompany.
Such a longed and advised cod "São Miguel" was served, cooked in too much oil and with onion, and ... imagine!, with french fries of packet (already cold) accompanying!!! I complained immediately and called the owner, who delayed, without exaggeration, approximately 10 minutes before reaching the table with bad face. After she realized the deshonesty, it pushed the subject up to the poor chef who came, nicely, to apologise for the chips of packet but what, not because of him but yes of the management, there were already no other potatoes for the plate. I spoke again with the lady-owner, who was refused to present the claiming book, and who turned me back while it was doing to her the claim. Only before i said i would call the police, the owner (lady Fátima) apologised and recognized the mistake and the tremendous insolent behaviour. I paid the dinner and i leaved immediately the restaurant, with the definite promise of never return there again.
